Professional Development
Queen’s Hyperloop proudly presents the only dedicated Professional Development (PD) program within the Queen’s engineering design team community. The PD team connects members, alumni, and industry partners together into an organized network to provide services consistently throughout the year. These services include mentorship, workshops, recruitment events, and more.
Our team works with other clubs and organizations that provide unique benefits to our members and beyond. This integrated system allows students and corporate partners to collaborate together without barriers, generating results that would otherwise be impossible to reach. Our contributions extend to the entirety of the student population at Queen’s by allowing public access to activities, which has been beneficial to the engineering and technology community at Queen’s as a whole.

Program features
Internal Workshops
In the 2022 - 2023 season, we ran over 20 workshops for topics such as Computer-Aided Design, Engineering Simulations, Project Management, Personal Website Development, and Resume Building.
With the help of team alumni, we introduced members to Management Consulting, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and other competitive and rewarding career paths.
External Workshops
We worked with Queen’s Technology and Media Association (QTMA) this past year to deliver workshops on topics such as Systems Engineering, Data Engineering, Machine Learning, and Software Development.
Next year, we aim to work with more clubs and partners to bring greater opportunities to our members.
Partnerships
As part of this ever-growing program, new members and industry partners will consistently be introduced to increase the diversity of opportunities. Alum networks and corporate partnerships will enable students to connect personally with actual professionals.
Being part of any organization or club in this program will enable equal access to all opportunities.
Connections
Professional development is all about working on real projects and meeting with real professionals. Hence, we follow a philosophy of placing members as close to the real world as possible through coordinated competition teams (for Hackathons and Engineering Competitions) and internships.
In the past, our members received referrals and offers from some of the largest companies in the world because of our professional development program.

Since our founding in 2015, QHDT has produced many generations of exceptional problem-solvers, innovators, and leaders. They are now working in many different industries and making new progress toward a better future.
